This Privacy Policy outlines the information usage practices within Phoebe’s Randoms group of businesses, including those yet to be named (collectively “PR”).

By submitting your Personal Information to PR or using any PR related sites, you consent to the use of your Personal Information as outlined in this policy. Where Personal Information is collected, but is not required for us to fulfill a requested service or product, we will clearly indicate your options.

We reserve the right to modify this policy at any time. Updated policies will be posted at least 30 days prior to any changes taking effect. Your continued use of this site means that you have accepted our modifications. Changes to the Policy will not affect any consents given or withheld that you may have previously given with regard to your Personal Information.

What Is Personal Information?

“Personal information” includes information or data, in any form, about an identifiable individual.

What Is the Scope of This Privacy Policy?

This Privacy Policy addresses our policies and procedures relating to our customers and to visitors to our websites. This Privacy Policy is intended to assist you in understanding our management of Personal Information that you submit to us or that we automatically collect through your interactions with us.

What Personal Information is collected?

PR collects Personal Information voluntarily provided by you, and/or information about you collected through cookies and browser data via our websites. Personal Information may include name, mailing address, email address, telephone number, gender, date of birth, age, chat room and blog communications, comments about our products or services, a record of promotions offered to you, your activities and your reading preferences, such as favorite authors and themes.

Cookies and Other Tracking Methods

Cookies are small files stored on your computer. Cookies are used to collect identifying information about you, such as the sites and pages you visit or your preferences for a specific website. Cookies are used to improve security, to provide content, services, ads and recommendations on our website, and to generate reporting statistics. Cookies can be used to remember passwords or associate a credit card with an account. In most cases you will be asked if you want your computer to remember such information.

Certain browsers allow you to block third party cookies in order to prevent being tracked. Please note that blocking all cookies could result in loss of login information for certain sites.

In certain cases we may also use tracking technologies to serve online advertisements to you for our products on third party websites. We may also place advertising and/or links on our sites that originate from outside advertisers. In some cases, if you click on or view these third party ads, a cookie may be assigned by the advertisers. PR does not control these cookies nor is it responsible for any marketing or other use of your name by these advertisers. We encourage you to investigate and ask questions before disclosing information to third parties.

Some browsers have a “do not track” feature that lets you tell websites that you do not want to have your online activities tracked. These features are not yet uniform, so we are not currently set up to respond to those signals.

Why Does PR Collect Personal Information?

Personal Information is collected and used for the specific business purpose for which it was collected, including but not limited to:

•  To determine eligibility for our products and services;

•  To gain an understanding of interests so that we can develop better products and services;

•  To properly investigate and respond to any concerns about our products or services;

•  To maintain and manage our “unsubscribe” list;

•  For promotional and advertising purposes, if and where permitted by law.

What Kind of Personal Information Does PR Disclose, to Whom and Why?

•  To Third Parties To Perform Processing And For Our Marketing Purposes:

At times, PR may use outside organizations to perform specialized services such as credit card processing, collection of overdue accounts, supplying contest infrastructure and the provision of various marketing services, including, but not limited to, telemarketing, research, advertising and list processing. As a result, certain Personal Information may be provided to or stored with third party service providers in other countries, including the United States of America and, accordingly, may be available to the governments of such other countries under a lawful order made in that country. These service providers are only given the information needed to perform those services and we make efforts to ensure that they protect the privacy and security of your information and to limit the use of your information to the service being provided.

Certain of these third party services use unique identifiers to anonymously track your usage and activities on our site using cookies and browser data (see above) which is then matched and combined with information about characteristics and activities collected by cookies and data from third party aggregators.

•  To Third Parties in the Event of Legal Reasons:

We may be required to disclose Personal Information to the government or other legal or regulatory authorities if so ordered by a court of law or for other legal reasons.

•  To a Third Party in the Event PR Is for Sale or Is Sold:

Should PR ever be up for sale or sold, prospective buyers will need access to PR’s customer lists and various databases as part of the due diligence process. In this event, PR would only provide such access under terms of a strict confidentiality agreement. In the event PR is sold, your Personal Information may be transferred to the purchasing company so you can continue to receive the books and services you purchased and to enable the continued maintenance of your Personal Information as set out in this policy.

How Long Does PR Retain Personal Information?

We keep your information only for a period reasonably necessary to meet the purposes for which it was collected, or based on any legal requirements, including statutory retention periods. Then we will delete or make anonymous any Personal Information that is no longer required for a specific purpose or legal requirement.

Online Policy Regarding Privacy of Children – PR’s websites are not set up or designed to appeal to those under 13 years of age and we do not knowingly collect information from children under this age. We may require that users submit their birth dates when they are joining as a member so that no information is collected from users under age 18. Birth date information is never shared with third parties except in anonymized aggregated form.

Users aged 13 to 17 may only use PR’s websites with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If they do not, PR reserves the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, remove or edit content, or cancel orders in its sole discretion. In concert with our efforts, PR urges all parents to supervise their children’s exploration of the Internet and any online services, and to teach their children about protecting their Personal Information online.

What are PR’s Security Measures To Safeguard Personal Information?

PR has implemented physical, electronic and administrative measures to protect your information from error, loss or unauthorized access; including but not limited to industry-standard efforts, such as passwords, firewalls and Secure Socket Layers.
