Fantasy Friday with Lure of the Tides by Gaja J. Kos

The Unseelie thrive on dark desires. I have to convince them I can fulfill their darkest dreams.

Lure of the Tides: A Dark Reverse Harem Fantasy Romance

If someone had said my petty thefts would lead to me getting shipped off to Unseelie lands on a mission to assassinate the Crown Princess, I would have told them they’d drank too much shell wine.

Ever seen a mermaid assassin on land? Didn’t think so.

Yet here I am, stripped of my tail and my heart, posing as part of a royal Unseelie outcast’s retinue.

Lachlan sees me as his personal form of twisted entertainment. I’d like nothing more than to slice off his cruel smirk, but being his plaything is the only way I can partake in the depraved courting ceremony where I’m supposed to strike the lethal blow. I have to dive into the throes of Unseelie life like a true member of their race. Wicked. Carnal. Pursuing pleasure through the darkest deeds.

If an unjustly handsome Unseelie prick ends up on the wrong side of my blade once I’m done, well…

Maybe not having a heart could prove to be fun after all.

Lure Of The Tides is the first title in a dark reverse harem fantasy romance trilogy with M/F and F/F pairings, a villainous, wicked flavor to its characters, and an abundance of scorching steam!13

My thoughts

I have been enticed to play with the mermaids by Rebecca Frank’s cover. I think this cover is so gorgeous. I knew I wanted to read the book, blurb unread, just based on its cover.

Lure Of The Tides reminds me of A.N. Roquelaure’s Beauty’s Punishment. Gaja J. Kos explores the relationship between sexuality, identity, and fulfillment.

On the surface we are given a storyline about a woman who sacrifices everyday to take care of her ailing mother and younger brother. To survive and get the medical supplies necessary Avalon steals. She gets caught and is used in a political game of intrigue to assassinate an opponent of her King’s. Getting out of the death penalty and ensuring the care of her family, she agrees to a dubious plan to kill someone.

It is the execution of the plan that Lure Of The Tides is about. Avalon is transformed into someone else and is then told (in pieces) that she is going to be used as everyone’s sexual slave in an orgy type atmosphere. Avalon then starts to realize some punishments she really likes even though she doesn’t like the actor involved. (This is very similar to the Captain in Beauty’s Punishment.)

There is an introduction of key players to whom she feels an attraction for whether it is welcome or not. Then there are a multitude of sexual scenes throughout the book with some story plot to tie it all together.

I liked Beauty’s Punishment and I like Lure Of The Tides for the same reasons: erotica that makes me bookmark passages to read over and over again. Gaja J. Kos gives us a tale I haven’t read from her yet and I enjoyed it. It’s not a romance, but a fantasy tale of erotica with BDSM elements. The fun part is seeing how Kos ups the game for each scenario. Lure Of The Tides has done its job and lured me in its erotic trap.

I received a free copy of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
