The war bride program is the only thing keeping Earth safe from the ravages of other aliens, right?
Every year thousands of human women ship off as brides to the planet Lukrim in exchange for Earth’s protection from Ralothian raiders. It’s a fair trade; Lukrim needs women and Earth needs guardians. It’s all volunteer, of course, except when a Lukrimian or two choose you as a wife and make you go.
My family’s farm is the only thing I have left and I’m determined to keep it, which means staying away from the attention of Earth’s alien overlords. When the four-armed Tremallin scout Dagnar crash lands on the distant edge of my property, I need to stay under the radar and not attract attention. The sooner he gets off of Earth, the safer I’ll be.4
Within Alien Arms is very different than the first book of “The Ragrim Conflict” series. Nessa Claugh has stepped up their game in alien romance.
Claugh gives us a complicated romance that has a chance to grow amidst the conflict of webs and lies that has been told to Lucinda and the rest of Earth’s population. There is nothing like an alien crash landing in your backyard to kick off a romance.
The struggle of who gets to eat and how they survive is one we live through today though not to the extremes that Claugh demonstrates in Within Alien Arms. Poverty never gets easy and Claugh showcases this through Lucinda’s eyes and then Dagnar’s upon landing.
Aliens fighting for human rights is a worthy premise and one that I enjoyed. I will admit to liking the slow burn between Dagnar and Lucinda along with the satisfaction after the burn. Gotta love an energizer bunny alien (joke…kinda).
Claugh gives us a slow-burn alien romance with some action, heat, and food. I did not mind returning to this series and can’t wait to read the next book.
Thank you to the Author for putting this book in #KindleUnlimited otherwise I could not have afford to read it. Thanks again!
