Review: Hard Sell by Hudson Lin

One night wasn’t enough.

Danny Yip walks into every boardroom with a plan. His plan for struggling tech company WesTec is to acquire it, shut it down, and squeeze the last remaining revenue out of it for his Jade Harbour Capital portfolio. But he didn’t expect his best friend’s younger brother—the hottest one-night stand he ever had—to be there.

Tobin Lok has always thought the world of Danny. He’s funny, warm, attractive—and totally out of Tobin’s league. Now, pitted against Danny at work, Tobin might finally get a chance to prove he’s more than just Wei’s little brother.

It takes a lot to get under Danny’s skin, but Tobin is all grown up in a way Danny can’t ignore. Now, with a promising patent on the line and the stakes higher than ever, all he can think about is getting Tobin back into his bed—and into his life for good.

If only explaining their relationship to Wei could be so easy…

My thoughts

Hudson Lin writes a deep romance filled with drama. I don’t know why I am surprised, but I kind of think of Carina Press to be our Harlequin or Silhouette Desire for queers. I gobbled the romances when I was a kid and have come to really enjoy Carina Press releases for that same good loving feeling.

This is not to say that Hard Sell does not provide that good loving feeling – it does. It is very deep and filled with business drama. What does a person do when the person they have to do business with is homophobic and possibly a pedophile. So glad I am not Daniel. Lin gives us a great insight into the drama of finance and investing. Add in burn-out and a second chance romance and it is no wonder Daniel keeps stepping on it. (chuckle)

Tobin is in some ways a saint because I know other partners who would have walked away. This is not to say that Tobin is perfect, he isn’t. He is really wonderful for Daniel though. I love the added family dynamic as Tobin is Daniel’s best friend’s brother. What do you say when you have been having fun with your second family’s youngest child.

Hard Sell is also pretty hot with a little touch of slap and tickle. I thoroughly enjoyed it. (wink and a smile)

Our first foray into the Jade Harbour Capital series has lots of diversity. I think the only check mark that Lin didn’t hit was the disabled person. It’s only the first book in the series, so let’s see what else Lin has in store for us.

I really like Tobin and Daniel’s best friend’s brother, age gap, and workplace romance. I cannot wait to see what happens next in their world.

I got this book from my library. I love my local library and you should check out yours too. Request LGBTQ+ books and they will stock them! #ebooksforall
