Mini-Review: Under the Ice by Skye MacKinnon and Laura Greenwood

What secrets lie under the ice?

Synopsis

Who will take the kelpie throne? With winter coming fast the last thing the kelpies need is a war between their Kings and their Empress. Sides will be taken and blood will be drawn.

Macey never wanted to lead another army, but with more creatures to deal with and memories of a prophecy yet to come to pass, she finds herself torn between her duty to her people and her job as a Warden…4

My thoughts

I will say that I am so glad that Macey did not add someone else to the team. Just saying, I’m having a hard time keeping track of who does what (chuckle).

Family is complicated. Skye MacKinnon and Laura Greenwood add a whole new twist to the “my family’s complicated” tale. Macey keeps having to face the consequences of a parentage that she knew nothing about in Under the Ice. Gotta say Nessie sure knows how to get around. (smh and laughing at the same time.)

There is action. Drama. Death. It’s complicated. MacKinnon and Greenwood manage to make a story fresh and with unexpected twists that they probably have to keep a spreadsheet for. They have made this series a true New Adult genre piece by having our heroine confront every obstacle possible on her journey to adulthood.

Luckily for us, the authors add some heat for Macey and us to enjoy. I am surprised they haven’t tried one position out…well at least on paper. (smile)

Action. Drama. Fun. It has to be another book in the “Seven Wardens” series and it’s a fun ride from the Wastelands to Greenland.

I received a free copy of this book, and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
