Review: What You Did by Willow Rose

Former FBI-profiler Eva Rae Thomas faces the most personal case in her career.

Cover Design: Juan Villar Pedron

Three girls disappear on prom night at the local high school. One of them is the prom queen.

FBI profiler Eva Rae Thomas is chasing her long-lost sister when detective— and boyfriend — Matt Miller asks her to join the investigation of the three girls’ disappearance. They were last seen walking home together after the dance.

When the body of a young girl shows up in her backyard, Eva Rae knows she can no longer watch from the sidelines, and soon she realizes not only is she involved in this investigation, she’s also this killer’s target.4

What You Did is a heart in your mouth thriller. I told Eva Rae that she should not go running. She did not listen (laugh).

Willow Rose gives us another wonderful mystery in the Eva Rae Thomas series. It is a psychological creeper that will get under your skin. What You Did ends up affecting Eva Rae’s friends and family and will have a long-lasting impact. I think this is what gets you most is the integration of previous characters and what happens to them as a result of this serial killer.

Rose includes family drama on top of a runway killer who seems to already know the answers before Eva Rae can think them. He is everywhere. Creepy.

I will confess that I guessed one item of the mystery, but I so did not think of the other ones. This is what I like in a mystery: The edge of your seat, holy sugar, “no don’t kill her!” moments. Rose provides plenty of them.

I am breathless just typing this review. I cannot wait to see where Rose and Eva Rae Thomas take us next.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
