Review: United by Karen Nappa

What happens after two Dominants have the best night of their lives…together?

Synopsis:

They’ve ignored their mutual attraction for years … until one night changes everything!

He is gorgeous, playful, and kind… and he is one of Kate’s best friends. She’s been admiring Chris from afar, but he is as domineering as she is.

After their one night stand, Kate tries to forget how good he made her feel and watches him at Club Indigo … until his play with Yvonne goes wrong, and Kate steps in. When more than love grows between the three of them, their lives will never be the same.

Starting a relationship between two people is hard; they’re about to discover living a threesome is even harder. Especially when they not only have to overcome their own misconceptions and difficulties. They also struggle with rules and regulations laid upon them by family and society.5

This is my first book by Karen Nappa and this will not be my last. I loved the characters at “Club Indigo” and the three highlighted in United are definitely yummy. By now my readers should know that I am a positive proponent for BDSM and when it is written with safety, knowledge, and care in mind I am so happy to write a review for it. I had no clue when I picked up this book that it was a BDSM or a poly relationship as I once again did not read the blurb (laugh). I was more than happy with the outcome and the entire book.

Nappa creates a story that is more than just about “fun”. It is a story that talks about the difficulty of navigating an adult relationship which I think most of us can relate to. Two people meet and have an instant attraction yet know that they will work better as friends. That friendship though builds into a deeper attraction in which feelings become attached to much to the ire of Kate who does not want to get involved with another Dominant personality.

Then one night they chuck it all to just experience once and it is a night they cannot forget. Nappa then takes us on an interesting journey of self-discovery for both Kate and Chris which takes place over time. Then it isn’t until a third person enters the picture that a solution to their “dilemma” comes to fruition. Their self-discovery does not end there. Yvonne is not new to the scene and brings yet another dynamic to the throuple.

Nappa then throws in yet another twist (laugh). I love this book. United showcases what poly and BDSM relationships are all about (not every BDSM relationship – just this particular type of one). Knowledge, caring, respect, and communication are key and Nappa illustrates all of these beautifully.

Plus for those who are just reading for the play, Nappa provides plenty of the fun stuff too!

United brings together everything I love about romance: communication, fun, and more than one.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
