Review: Kaps by Christina Bauer

Sometimes, you just have to punch a shape-shifting vampire Nazi. Like tonight, for instance.

Synopsis:

Meet Princess Kaps: renegade, dragon shifter, and general pain in her royal parents’ backsides. Although Kaps pretends to love rock and roll, she’s actually obsessed with fighting the audax, a group of shape-shifting vampire Nazis. And to slay herself some blood suckers, Kaps collects supernatural relics.

Suddenly, a magical blade turns up in New York City. The Wurtzite dagger can cut through anything, so Kaps goes after it with a vengeance, not knowing that weapon will change her life forever…

Updated almost daily!

I do not know who designed the cover for Kaps, but it is the best cover so far in the “Angelbound Offspring” series. It aptly showcases the fun part of Kaps with a little bit of the wild part thrown in. The model looks older than a seventeen-year-old kid though (laugh).

I love the character of Kaps from other stories. Christina Bauer took what we already knew of Kaps and added a whole lot more. Some of which I suspected because it is Kaps and it made sense. The tough part I figured for Bauer would be to find a mate for Kaps, but Bauer seemed to do that with ease. I love Mack with Kaps.

Mack is a force unto himself. Mack with Kaps is phenomenal. He is so good for her. He is supportive and lets her do her own thing which is huge. Mack saw her from the very beginning. He believes in her even when her own twin doubts her – which by the way made me not like her anymore. Just saying.

There is a lot of action in this book. I remember reading not too long ago that writing a fight scene is hard. Take note: Bauer kicks butt. It is awesome. Plus she throws in snarky one-liners Buffy style. Love it!

Kaps into her own in this book. The journey is fun and worth it. Bauer makes it an adventure, mystery, and a sneaky romance all in one. Kaps is part of a series, but she can be read as a standalone. If you have started the series yet, that is okay. Start here.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

Christina Bauer knows how to tell stories about kick-ass women. In her best selling Angelbound series, the heroine is a part-demon girl who loves to fight in Purgatory’s Arena and falls in love with a part-angel prince. This young adult best seller has driven more than 500,000 ebook downloads and 9,000 reviews on Goodreads and retailers. The first three books in the series are now available as audiobooks on Audible and iTunes.

Bauer has also told the story of the Women’s March on Washington by leading PR efforts for the Massachusetts Chapter. Her pre-event press release—the only one sent out on a major wire service—resulted in more than 19,000 global impressions and redistribution by over 350 different media entities including the Associated Press.

Christina graduated from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School with BA’s in English along with Television, Radio, and Film Production. She lives in Newton, MA with her husband, son, and semi-insane golden retriever, Ruby.6
